It gets pretty cold in the winter time in Boston. When the weather gets cold, people tend to look for indoor things to do. It can be difficult to be outside for long periods of time in sub freezing temperatures, especially with kids. Finding indoor things to do in Boston is also great for rainy days. It is always a great idea to have some indoor activities in your back pocket when traveling to Boston, just in case! Boston is rich in history and there is so much to do that doesn't involve being outside.

1. Boston Museum of Science


The Boston Museum of Science is great for all ages! Whether you're into science or not, the museum is fantastic for any visitor at any age. It's a great indoor thing to do and a fantastic day trip for the family. If you've never been to the Boston Museum of Science, don't miss out. This great museum is a hidden gem located right in the heart of Boston! There are so many exhibits to see, and they change all the time! For example, there is a children's discovery center on the second floor that showcases different exhibits each day. It has fun exhibits on science, space and technology. Both kids and adults alike will love touring the exhibits at this museum. The planetarium is particularly impressive and fun to look at and there is also an iMax theater! It's definitely worth a visit when you're visiting the city. The Boston Museum of Science is great for the whole family.

2. The Children's Museum


The Boston Children's Museum is a fun indoor attraction in Boston. This is a great indoor place to take kids! Not only is this a place where kids can explore science but it also seconds as a play center. There are a total of 3 floors with amazing climbing structures, water play, bubble making, and imaginary play stations. Your kids could spend hours here having a blast! This place will entertain your kids with interactive stations, slides and a whole lot more. Plus the staff here are really friendly and approachable to ask questions or just make suggestions to have even more fun! This museum is perfect for families to let their children be creative and learn while they play.

3. New England Aquarium


Did you know there is an aquarium right on the waterfront in downtown Boston? It's true, and I can definitely recommend a visit. There's always something new and surprising to see, and you never know what may be swimming by your window. With a wide variety of marine life, it's great for both kids and adults alike! This is a great spot to explore when forced to go indoors while visiting Boston.



4. Faneuil Hall


Stop here for lunch! This is such a unique building that is full of a cafeteria-like food spread. This dining center is guaranteed to include something for everyone's tastes. Faneuil Hall Marketplace offers unique retail, up-and-coming boutiques, and local eateries. The food court layout has so many options. Not only do you get to make a decision about where you want to eat, but then you get to decide whether or not you want dessert! Cookies, cakes, ice cream, and a big Boston favorite... cannolis!



 

If you're stuck indoors while visiting Boston, don't fret. Regardless of the weather you can have an amazing time exploring the historic city of Boston. There are plenty of things to do indoors. Whether it is freezing outside, raining, or even too hot, take refuge indoors at one of these spots in Boston.
